Buyer's guide for jewellers

Choosing a WhatsApp CRM for a jewellery business in India

A jeweller needs more from a WhatsApp CRM than a shared inbox and a broadcast button. The decisions that matter are whether prices follow the day's gold rate on their own, whether a quote matches the bill, and whether a piece without its HUID can be offered at all. This guide lists eleven requirements, the question to put to any vendor for each, and an honest column for what Klaros covers today and what it does not.

The eleven requirements, and what to ask

What a jeweller needsWhy it mattersAsk the vendorKlaros today
One gold rate that every price followsA stored price quotes yesterday's rate on the morning the metal moves. When I change the rate, do prices change, or does someone retype them?Yes. One rate per purity; saving reprices every piece and a nightly run catches the rest.
A stale rate is never quotedAn old rate quoted as today's costs margin or trust. What happens if I forget to set the rate?Yes. A price whose rate is over 36 hours old is held back, and the automatic "today's rate?" answer is not sent.
A quote that matches the billCustomers compare the chat quote with the invoice. Are making charge, each stone and GST separate lines?Yes. Making per gram, as a percentage or flat with a minimum; stones line by line; hallmarking charge; GST at 3%.
HUID before saleA hallmarked piece should not be offered without its HUID.Can a gold piece without a HUID reach the storefront or the chat?Yes, it can be stopped. Gold of 2 g or more is held back until its BIS HUID is recorded. Kundan, polki and jadau can be marked exempt.
Your stock list, as it isRetyping every tag is why catalogues stay empty. Can I import my billing export without reformatting it?Yes. .xlsx or .csv, columns read by name, with a dry run first.
The catalogue inside WhatsAppCustomers browse and ask in the same thread.Does it publish to the WhatsApp catalogue and keep prices current?Yes, through the WhatsApp Catalog Publishing extension. New prices go to the catalogue when you save the rate.
Showroom visit bookingHigh-value purchases start with a visit. Can a customer book a time in the chat?Yes, through the Meetings extension: tappable times sent as reply buttons, booked in the thread, with reminders.
Consent before festival broadcastsMessaging people who never opted in damages the number. Is opt-in recorded, with proof?Yes. An append-only consent ledger, with GDPR erasure and export.
A shared inbox for the showroom teamSeveral staff answer from one number. Can I assign chats and leave notes?Yes. Shared inbox, assignment, labels and internal notes.
Gold savings schemes and instalment remindersMany jewellers run monthly schemes.Does it track enrolments and due dates? No. Klaros has no scheme module.
Billing, GST invoices and old-gold exchangeThese are your books.Does it replace my billing software? No. Klaros is not billing software and does not sync stock from it.

Klaros covers the first nine and does not cover the last two. The jewellery features, the rate board, pricing by weight, stones, HUID enforcement and the stock-list import, are one add-on that is off until you turn it on. The catalogue, the shared inbox and the consent ledger are core. The Klaros jewellers page shows a full priced example.

Three mistakes that cost jewellers money

What Klaros is not

Klaros is not your billing software. GST invoices, old-gold exchange, karigar accounts, girvi and your books stay where they are, and stock is not synced from billing software: when a piece sells at the counter, mark it sold in Klaros. It does not run gold savings schemes. A hold or a discount is your decision with the customer, because the assistant quotes your listed prices and cannot change a rate or a making charge.

Questions jewellers ask
Can WhatsApp quote today's gold rate automatically?

Yes, if the system prices from a rate rather than a stored figure. In Klaros you set one rate per purity each morning, and a customer who asks for today's rate is answered from that board, with yesterday's and the day before. If the rate is more than 36 hours old, the automatic answer is not sent, so nobody is told an old rate as today's.

Does a WhatsApp CRM replace jewellery billing software?

No. Klaros is where customers find your pieces and ask about them on WhatsApp. GST invoices, old-gold exchange, karigar accounts, girvi and your books stay in your own billing software. Stock is not synced from billing software either: when a piece sells at the counter, you mark it sold in Klaros.

Can it stop a piece without a HUID being sold on WhatsApp?

Yes. In Klaros a gold piece of 2 g or more is held back from the storefront and from chat until its BIS HUID is recorded. Kundan, polki and jadau pieces can be marked exempt, and made-to-order pieces are never published.

Does Klaros track gold savings schemes and instalment reminders?

No. Klaros has no savings-scheme module, so enrolments and due dates stay in whatever you use today. Klaros can send a payment request carrying your own payment gateway's link, and a link that allows instalments will record them, but it does not run a scheme.

Can I import my existing stock list?

Yes. Klaros reads an .xlsx or .csv export from your billing software, with columns such as Tag No, Net Wt, MC/gm, VA %, Dia Wt and Dia Amt read by name. A dry run reports what will happen to every row before anything is written, so a mistake is caught before it reaches the catalogue.

What does Klaros cost for a jeweller?

Hosted Klaros starts with a free 14-day trial, then 699 rupees a month billed annually for Founding Partners (list 999 rupees, limited to 10 customers). The Jewellery pack, the rate board, pricing by weight and HUID enforcement, is an add-on bought separately and off until you turn it on. WhatsApp messaging is paid to Meta at its published rates with no markup.
