Customer strategy guides

Outside analyses of real businesses and the problems their own growth creates. Written from public evidence, with the arithmetic shown and the limits of each argument stated rather than hidden.

Each guide takes one company, works out what actually constrains it, and follows that through to what a messaging layer would and would not change. None of them are written with the company's involvement, none reproduce anyone's photography, and none quote a projected result, because a number nobody can check is worth less than an argument somebody can.

There is one so far.

Jaipur Watch Company · luxury retail

Antique coins set into mechanical watches, so the inventory genuinely cannot be reordered. Why that inverts the usual growth playbook, why one collector arrives as three strangers as the chain goes from 14 stores to 25, and how the houses it competes with solved the same problem a century ago.

On being written about

If your company appears here and you would rather it did not, say so and the page comes down. If something is wrong, tell us what and it gets corrected with the change noted.
